Abstract
Frailty is common in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is independently associated with disability and mortality. However, evidence on the optimal treatment of frail adults with CKD remains limited. Consequently, regulators have encouraged routine assessment of frailty and the reporting of outcomes stratified by frailty in clinical studies. In this narrative review, we found that several recent clinical trials of disease-modifying therapies for CKD evaluated treatment effects across frailty strata and reported consistent benefits, with potentially greater benefits in the highest frailty subgroup. However, frailty was not formally assessed in any of these trials, and the proxy measures used may not have fully captured the multidimensional aspects of frailty needed to inform treatment decisions.Source: PubMed (PMID: 42966593)View Original on PubMed
