Abstract

In oncology, telemonitoring symptoms of patients has shown significant benefits in terms of overall survival and quality of life in several clinical trials in oncology. Telemonitoring has been reimbursed in France since 2023. Our study aims to establish a French overview of telemonitoring in oncology between 2022 and 2025. In 2022, 113 pharmacists in cancer departments authorized to produce chemotherapy in France, and then 78 in 2025, completed an electronic form about their use of telemonitoring in their departments. Among the responding centres, 12.61% used telemonitoring in oncology in 2022 versus 35.90% in 2025. These centers described similar obstacles to the implementation of these platforms in both studies, such as lack of interoperability, limitation on patient use, lack of human resources and clinician engagement. Since their reimbursement in 2023, telemonitoring platforms in French cancer departments has been developed, but difficulties persist in routine practice, due to a lack of resources for professionals. This requires better training for professionals and optimization of the platform by developers.
