Dr. Prajjwal Pyakurel

Dr Prajjwal Pyakurel

Dr. Prajjwal Pyakurel is a distinguished Cardiovascular Epidemiologist and Community Physician with a rich academic background and extensive expertise in public health. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Doctorate in Medicine, Community Medicine and Tropical Diseases from the prestigious B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Nepal.

Dr. Pyakurel’s academic journey has been marked by excellence, culminating in his role as an Assistant Professor at the same institute, where he has served for nearly a decade. In this capacity, he has imparted knowledge to both undergraduate medical students and Master of Public Health (MPH) students, specializing in epidemiology. He has also supervised postgraduate residents and guided students in their research endeavors.

His expertise lies in cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention, with a particular focus on assessing cardiovascular risk factors in industrial settings. Currently he runs his own NCD and Mental Health Campaign in one of the organized settings in central Nepal.

Dr. Pyakurel’s contributions to the field have not gone unnoticed. He was selected as a Lown Scholar for the Cardiovascular Health Program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, an esteemed recognition of his dedication to advancing cardiovascular health globally. Additionally, he has been actively involved in prestigious organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Public Health Association, further solidifying his reputation as a leader in public health research and practice.
